I Am Coretta. Hello everyone. You will hear from Martin soon but today, it’s ladies first. We were on the front lines, fighting for civil rights for so long. It seemed like we had made a lot of progress in many ways but now the ugly face of prejudice has re-emerged.
We worked at the surface level but we were really working at the soul level too. We wanted to build a freer society where everyone could flourish, allowing their souls to shine through. If you look back and watch some of our videos, you can see love and forgiveness very clearly. You can also see us standing up and doing the right thing in the face of great adversity.
I want this to be my main message to each of you. Sometimes, love stands up. Sometimes, love says “enough is enough”. Sometimes, love says, “I don’t care what you think. I don’t care about the laws you say I Am breaking. You can arrest me. The police dogs can take a chunk out of my leg. I’m going to do the right thing by speaking out and by standing up. Love cannot be silenced. It cannot be locked up, controlled and suppressed.”
I know who each of you are. I see you. We are the same. We are love in different forms. My experience as Coretta made my soul so strong. It was already strong, mind you. We came here on a mission, but I left even stronger than when I first arrived.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute to A Journey into the Unknown. I’m glad that the tradition we started is being continued in such a bold and fearless way.
