Noah: Part One of Two

Monday, May 24, 2021   8:25 pm

I was known as Noah at one point in time. I came to tell you my truth. Unlike many of the women who have spoken, I was heralded as a male hero, a man of God. Well, I don’t know about that in reality, but I did achieve my objective.

Yes, there really was an ‘ark’ and it really did have male and female pairs of animals. More on that later.

First, let’s talk about the role of superstition, not only in the stories but in our actual lives. I was very much an ordinary man of my time. I can honestly say that I was quite superstitious as was everyone. If there was a thunderstorm, it meant that God was mad at us. Fires and any kind of natural or even unnatural disasters always meant that you were a marked man and that God was out to get you.

On the other hand, if good things happened, and of course they did, a superstitious man like myself would want to increase the likelihood of this happening again. So, of course, we would seek to please God by getting on his good side. Incessant begging and pleading seemed to work, at least some of the time.

When we experienced negative thoughts or witnessed negative behavior in ourselves or in others, we would naturally blame the devil. It was easier and more convenient than taking responsibility ourselves. Then, we would pray to God to help us to fight the devil by giving us special powers or strength to do this with. This is how everything in our world worked or so we thought and since we believed it was true, it was true for us. We were making our reality based on our beliefs, very limited ones.

I will speak to you again tomorrow.

Noah
